What time does the building open for students?
The school opens at 7:50 am.
During non-Covid times- On inclement weather days, students may enter at 7:30 am and wait in the lobby until 7:50 AM, when they’ll be allowed to proceed to their homeroom.
What time do classes start and end?
School starts promptly at 8:00 AM.. School ends at 2:40 PM. On half days, classes end at 11:30 AM.
Where can I drop my child off in the morning?
There are 2 entrances: the main entrance on Hancock Street (off the traffic circle) and the back entrance on Sedge Road.
Car drop-off and pickup is best done on the Sedge Road side. Drop at 7:50 AM and Pick-up after 2:50 PM. There are bike racks at both locations, for students biking to school. If your child is tardy, you may only drop off at the main entrance on the Hancock Street side.
Where can I pick up my child in the afternoon?
At the end of the school day, you may pick up your child on the Hancock Street side or the Sedge Road side. For early dismissals prior to 12:45, you may only pick up on the Hancock Street side. For early dismissals occurring between 1:45 and 2:40, you may only pick up on the Sedge Road side and must contact the office in advance to make arrangements.
How do I learn where my child’s bus stop will be?

Where can I get a copy of my child’s schedule?
Students receive a copy of their daily schedule on the first day of school. Student schedules are also available in the Aspen Portal (under the student view).
Does my child get a locker and where can s/he find the combination if it is lost?
All students are assigned a locker on their first day. They are given a combination and time to practice using the lock. They should write the combination down someplace safe at home. However, if they need help with their locker, they should go to the office for assistance.
What should I do if my child is going to be absent or late or needs to be picked up early?

You may also call the school’s attendance line (781-861-2460, option 1). For early dismissals, please send your child to school with a note stating the time & reason for the dismissal. Your child should bring the note to the office upon arrival and will be given a dismissal pass. If your child brings a note, you do not need to come into the building to pick up; s/he will be allowed to walk out to your car when you arrive. However, if you call the school for an early dismissal, you will be required to come into the building to sign your child out.
Do I need to let the school know of changes to my child’s regular dismissal routine?
Unlike elementary school, the front office does not monitor children’s dismissal activities. While you and your child should clearly communicate where and how they are going after school, the front office does not need a note outlining a student’s dismissal plans.
What can I do if my child forgets something at home?
Parents can drop off forgotten items at the front office. Please be sure to mark the child’s name clearly on the item. Note: the office can only call students out of class for lunch, money for lunch, eyeglasses, or Chromebook/iPads. All other items will be kept at the front office until the end of the school day, when students can come pick them up.
How can I contact my student at school?
Typically, you are not able to reach your student during the school day. Cell phone calls and text messages are not allowed. In emergency cases, you can call the main office and they will make sure a message is sent to your child.
Does my student need a cell phone?
No, Diamond students do not need cell phones. Cell phone use isn’t permitted during school hours, and phones must be kept in lockers during this time. Students are permitted to use phones before and after school.
What are the Diamond Daily Announcements?
Daily Announcements are made to the students over the PA system each morning and afternoon. As a service, the PTA emails a recap of those same announcements daily to parents who have donated to the PTA and provided their email address to the directory team (see page 2 of this newsletter for more information). They are also posted on the Diamond website.
How does my child register for after school athletics?
Diamond offers after school Varsity, JV, and intramural sports every semester. Information will be available on the Diamond website in late August regarding fall sports offerings, including what is required prior to participation, user fees, and the registration process.
When do after school clubs start and how late do they go?

Do I need to pack a lunch for my child? A snack?
Students have the option to either bring a packed lunch or purchase lunch from the cafeteria. They will use the same account/student ID code that they did in elementary school. Students do not have a snack period before or after lunch.
Does my child need clothing for gym class?
Yes, students are required to have a change of clothes for gym. Changing rooms are available for students to change before & after gym class; they store their gym clothing in their main locker. Please remind your child to bring gym clothes home regularly for washing.
